Visual representations of the change in global temperature as measured since the year 1850 with each stripe representing the temperature averaged over a year.
Visual representations, called ‚warming stripes’, of the relative change in global temperature as measured since the year 1850. Each stripe represents the temperature averaged over a year based on the UK Met Office HadCRUT5.0 dataset (Morice et al.) and the colour scale goes from -0.6°C to +0.93°C. The Warming stripes (or also Warning stripes) follow the original design by Ed Hawkins and illustrate the rise in average temperatures and aim to start conversations about our warming world and the risks of climate change. The Scientific colour map ‘vik‘ is used to represent data accurately and to all readers.
